Guide: Converting MIDI > MML

Step 1: Select MIDI.
I dont think I really have to go in depth with this step... Do I?
Personally, when I make my songs, I work on the MIDI first using another program.
All types of editing I'd rather not get into. X_x The software I use for that is Record Producer MIDI Edition and/or SmartScore Pro.
For you composing newbies, just try to get the hang of it. You have to start somewhere I guess.

Step 2: Select The MIDI Tracks to export
To be honest, most of these settings I never bothered to play with... I do all my edit work before hand.
~Under "Other Settings", MIDI Track --> Multiple MML Tracks I just recently learned can be very useful if you are working with an MIDI with a single merged track.

As for Import Target Track, These will be the MIDI Tracks that will get exported into 3ML.
You'll notice some tracks will be unchecked by default. These are percussions (MIDI Channel 10) used for drums, cymbals, and other sound effects. 3MLE was created before Mabinogi supported these. You can still use them.

Step 3: Select The Tracks to Convert to MML
Open the export dialog with the [F7] key.

Select Mabinogi Style(1)
Check Optimize and Export(E)
Now select 3 Tracks

~Most of the time Track1 will be just for tempos. You should uncheck Track 1 and add the tempo to the song by hand if this is the case.
~Mabinogi supports up to 3 tracks per score scroll. Melody, Chord 1, and Chord 2.

Step 4: Getting the MML code.
After you've selected the tracks and set the settings, hit Ok.
You will get a Pop-up dialog. It will tell you the length of each track as well as the song's rank.
The MML code will be stored into your clipboard. You can paste (CTRL+P) it into NotePad for later use or paste it into a Score Sheet ingame with "Read from Clipboard".
Personally, I compress and format my MML using High Standard MML2MML Converter for archiving reasons.
I will not explain how MML2MML Converter works, so you are on your own with that.
